Biography
Despite the name’s suggestion of a Japanese origin, Akama is actually a French directing duo, comprised of Alexandre Ada and Cédric Jeanne. After finishing their fine arts and graphic design studies, Alexandre and Cédric formed Akama
in 2004. The duo first experimented with music videos, videogame trailers and short films before launching into advertising.
Since then their polished imagery, satirical humor and creative initiative enticed advertisers such as Spontex, Lacoste, Peugeot and Nescafé. Two of the collective’s first spots, Wilkinson “Fight for Kisses” and Kit Kat “The Ultimate Break” amassed numerous awards at Cannes, Epica, Eurobest and a multitude of other festivals.
For over a year, Akama collaborated with UBISOFT on the hit video game, Raving Rabbids, showcasing the duo’s impressive animation skills and absurd comedic style.
As of late, Akama have been expanding their creative framework by increasingly mixing live action film with 3D animation.
