Paranoid US

Biography

Ross Ludwig and Shawn Preston began working in comedy at very early ages. Ross told his first one liner while still breastfeeding, and Shawn wrote his first knock-knock joke at age two. After childhood, both found outlets for their slightly more mature senses of humor in advertising, working at shops such as Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam, BBH London and Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore and London.

They began directing together in the UK and quickly made their mark shooting two campaigns for MTV, both which made it into the British D&AD, with one garnering a Silver Nomination.

They returned to the US after almost a decade-long absence and continued to work on projects including a Super Bowl commercial for Mountain Dew Amp, which was listed in Time Magazines Top Ten Super Bowl Commercials of 2009.

Recently, they took their love of comedy to a new level by incorporating some complicated computer animation and special effects into a spot they directed for PETA, featuring a skinned rabbit  (voiced by Ricky Gervais) and an alligator demanding its fur back.

Their technical prowess, combined with their love of all things funny, makes them a lethal comedic directing force. Maybe ‘lethal’ is an overstatement, as no has ever actually died in the making of their commercials. However, they are known to risk life, limb and reputation to get the big laugh.
