In April, BoiseDev told you about Boise State Dining Services searching to fill the vacant coffee shop space in Albertsons Library that was previously held by Big City Coffee.
The university’s finalists for the spot were Guru Donuts, Poppy Seed Bakery + Cafe, Urban Fox Coffee & Boba, and Push & Pour. After receiving feedback and hearing pitches from the vendors, Guru Donuts will take over the spot.
“Guru Donuts started out of a garage in the North End almost ten years ago, and we are here to show the BSU students that really with a dream you can do almost anything,” Krystle McLaughlin with Guru Donuts said for Guru’s pitch. “We’re known for our nationally award-winning donuts and we’ve just really grown as a community staple that people travel here to try.”

The donut shop offers a variety of donuts, drinks, and sandwiches, and toast at its Boise and Eagle locations.
During the pitch, the vendors said they would add more student-friendly options such as grab-and-go items.
“We are so excited to spread the donut joy to our new space at BSU! We have such a great team always innovating exciting donuts, drinks, and eats,” McLaughlin said in a news release. “We are immensely grateful for the support from our community in the Treasure Valley allowing us to grow in Boise, Eagle, and now Boise State!”
The store’s grand opening starts August 24 through the 29. Guru Donuts will do giveaways through its Instagram during that week.

Guru launched in 2012 out of a Boise garage. It opened a physical location on Capitol Blvd. before moving to the Idanha. New ownership started to expand and launch the additional locations.
