A popular Chapel Hill coffee shop is getting ready to brew up a new location and a bigger menu this fall.
Coco Bean Coffee Shop & Cafe is currently located in the East 54 shopping center, but in September the business will move to the newly-constructed Gwendolyn building, adjacent to Fordham Boulevard in the Glen Lennox community.
The business will also change its name slightly: after the move, Coco Bean Coffee Shop & Cafe will be known simply as Coco.
The new location and the new brand will coincide with an expanded concept for the business. The new Coco will feature an expanded food menu, including vegan baked goods and weekend brunch. In addition, Coco will transform into a bar in the evening, serving cocktails, beer, and wine, as well as non-alcoholic options.
Coco owner Tamara Lackey says the entire menu will be meat-free and vegan-friendly.
“We’re beyond excited about relocating and expanding operations to the Gwendolyn building,” Lackey says in a recent release. “We’re looking forward to providing a first-of-its-kind atmosphere and space for the Glen Lennox and Chapel Hill community to connect and enjoy.”
The new Coco will fill a 3000-square-foot space in the four-story Gwendolyn building. It’s set to open sometime in September.
